San Luis Obispo Rugby is synonymous with seven-a-side rugby. Our legendary Tri-Tip Sevens Tournament has been highlight of California’s summer rugby calendar since 1985. Held yearly on the weekend following Labor Day, it is usually the last tournament of the season, and is the perfect venue for teams to wrap up their sevens programs with a bang!

We offer the perfect mix of competitive play (several previous champions have gone on to win the national title), recreational rugby, and good old-fashioned San Luis Obispo hospitality. Our location on California’s central coast enables us to attract teams from the north and south, providing rare opportunities for inter-union bragging rights. It is also a popular stopover for many interstate and international touring teams; including various entries over the years from Scotland, Australia, Wales, and more. This all adds to the colorful festive atmosphere that makes the Tri-Tip Sevens a ‘must see’ event. Click here for information about this year’s tournament.
